Working Hours in the France While Studying

International students in France are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic term. This provides an excellent opportunity to gain work experience, manage living expenses, and integrate into the local culture.

During holidays or academic breaks, students can work full-time, up to 964 hours per year, as per French labor laws. The minimum wage (SMIC) in France is approximately €11.27 per hour (gross), making part-time jobs a practical way to supplement your finances.

Many universities in France offer mandatory internships as part of the course curriculum. These internships provide hands-on experience and often lead to full-time job placements, as more than 80% companies hire directly from their intern pool.

Students are encouraged to balance work and academics effectively to ensure their studies remain a priority.

Post-Study Work (PSW) in the France

The USA provides excellent opportunities for international graduates:

Masters

International students who have completed a Master’s degree or higher in France are eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Permit.

This permit allows you to stay in France for up to 2 years to look for employment or start a business.

Bachelors

Students completing a Bachelor’s degree can typically stay in France but only after completing Masters degree for up to 24 months through a job-search or business-creation visa.
